Kudjip Nazarene Hospital in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea is a mission hospital operated by the Church of the Nazarene, serving the people of PNG since 1967.

Nazarene Hospital is one facet of health services provided through Nazarene Health Ministries, the others being Community Based Health Care, Rural and Primary Health Care, and Nazarene College of Nursing.

The Hospital provides a full range of services, including:

  • 120 inpatient beds
  • Surgery, Pediatric, OB/GYN, and Medical Services
  • 24 hour Emergency Department
  • Laboratory and X-ray
  • Pharmacy
  • Primary Health Services-including HIV, TB, STD, Immunizations, Well Child checks, Prenatal care, Family Planning, Malnutrition, and Leprosy Programs

Staffing

  • 10 doctors, including Family Practice, General Surgery, ER, and Papua New Guinea doctors
  • 60 Nurses (all PNG Nationals)
  • 40 Community Health Workers (similar to Nurse Aides)
  • 10 Laboratory and X-ray staff
  • 1 Dentist

Masters in Rural and Remote Medicine Physician Training

  • Training Christian Papua New Guinea Doctors in rural health care
  • Rotations throughout the hospital in surgery, pediatrics, medicine, and ER

Chaplain Ministry

  • 4 Chaplains
  • Hundreds of people give their lives to Christ each year
  • Patients seen in the hospital and as outpatients
  • Show the Jesus Film on the outpatient porch to patients as they wait
  • Connect new believers to a Bible believing Church in that persons community

Climate

Nazarene Hospital is located in the beautiful Waghi Valley in the Western Highlands. We enjoy wonderful weather year around. It is usually clear to partly cloudy in the mornings, warms up through the day, and often rains in the late afternoon or evening. Temperatures range from lows around 60 degrees to highs in the 80’s.
